Why 2 inches change the build

Most salt products sold for wall installations is 1 inch thick. It looks right on day one. The problem shows up later: thinner salt flexes against its salt bonding adhesive, and in a humid, temperature-cycling environment like a sauna or steam room, that flex is what eventually produces cracking and edge wear.

A 2-inch brick behaves differently. There is more material between the face and the mounting surface, so the bond carries less stress. There is more salt for light to travel through, which is why a backlit brick wall reads as deep amber rather than flat pink. And in a commercial room being used seven
days a week, the difference is measured in years of service, not seasons.

Colour variation is not a defect

No two bricks match, and no two walls will either. The pink-to-orange range comes from where in the deposit the salt was cut — iron, magnesium and calcium concentrations differ across the seam. A wall built from a single batch will read as coherent; a wall built from identical bricks would look
manufactured, which is the opposite of the point.
